Schenkon race in Switzerland

May 15, 2010

Saturday the 15th of May I had a time trial race in Schenkon, Switzerland. After arriving on Friday, the weather wasn’t looking good at all so I knew that Saturday would be rainy day.

Our race started at 16:30. For the time trial, each person starts alone with a 30 second gap in between so I had to race all the way alone. My starting time was at 17:35. After having a good warming up, I had to wait under the heavy cold rain for more than 20 minutes. I wasn’t feeling well as I was freezing waiting for my start time. [ Read more... ]

Gutenberg Mainz half marathon 2010 – Germany

May 9, 2010

Last Sunday i was in Mainz for the half marathon. When I arrived on Saturday afternoon the weather was still looking good. But on Sunday morning it was pouring down and very cold.

After warming up in the parking area, I took my position at the start. The race started and I joined a small group of cyclists who split from the main group. The track was very wet which made the race harder, particularly on the turns as it was dangerously slippery.

Eventually I waited for the right moment and made my final sprint and won the race. I was happy with my results and now I’m looking forward to my next race this coming Saturday in Schenkon – Switzerland.

Czech Republic – Louny & Dusseldorf Marathon – Germany

May 2, 2010

Following the last Hamburg marathon, I stayed a couple of days in Hamburg to train with my teammates.

On Thursday the 29th of April, we set off to the Czech Republic and got stuck in traffic till we arrived at 10:30 pm. The trip made me feel very uncomfortable and my body was aching throughout the night with high fever. The next morning,my teammates got me some tablets to bring my temperature down. I didn’t eat anything that day as I slept more than 20 hrs and I was starting to wonder whether I’d be able to participate in the 15 km race the next day.

Saturday the 1st of May, I got up at 6:00 am feeling much better and no fever! I got myself ready and headed to the counter to pick my chip and start number… and on the way, my front tire exploded. I spent some time replacing the tire and I went straight to the start place. [ Read more... ]

Hamburg Marathon 2010

April 25, 2010

Last Sunday I participated at the Hamburg Marathon. The marathon was interesting as too many good athletes were present. At the start, the group cycled at very high speed in order to bypass as many athletes as possible.

Three km through the race, Vico Merklein and Arkadiusz Skrzypiski, who are from another division, made their attack to which I didn’t respond. After 12 km, I made my attack with Bernd Jeffre from another division as well – as you know in the marathon all the divisions ride together so there are 3 different divisions: H1, H2 (my division) and H3 which is the strongest division – and we were able to move ahead more than 20 sec distance away from the group. Rosenau – France

April 3, 2010

After coming back from Al Ain in UAE, I started preparing for my next race in Rosenau – France.

This race is the toughest race in Europe as it has more than 200 participants of whom over 77 are in my division. The good thing, though, is that all the best hand-cyclists of the world were present at this race.

The first race started at 11:00 am and the weather was so cold and rainy.
Lucky enough, when it was time for our race at 13:15, it stopped raining and I tried to take off at full speed to take over as many athletes as I can; however, I was left with more than 18 athletes in the group. The speed was very high and the competitions was very rough! [ Read more... ]
