Here I am heading back home from China after a very exciting month at the Paralympic Games.

Straight after my last race, I went straight into hospital as I had an infected wound which resulted in a blood infection.

In the hospital, they cleaned the wound, gave me some antibiotics and advised me to lay in bed for few days.

However, I decided to fly back home where my doctor can take good care of my wound.

Therefore, on Monday I changed my flight schedule and packed my bags. Before leaving China, I thanked our guides who assisted me during my stay and facilitated the communication barrier with the Chinese people.

On Tuesday the 16th of September, I arrived at the airport and kindly asked the KLM team whether I could have a business class seat in order to lay down and rest my wound. Fortunately, the team was very understanding and looked after the whole trip…Thank you KLM!

On my arrival, I was glad to see my family again after being away for a whole month.
Now I am taking some much needed rest in order for my wound to heal as soon as possible.
