Friday the 25th of June was my first race which was time trial. The race went well and I finished 2nd.

On Saturday the 26th of June was the road race and I had a big crash so I didn’t finish the race.

After the race I had contact with the Sunrise Medical company who effectively fixed my bike by Tuesday when I drove to Louny, Czech Republic to participate in 2 races on Saturday the 3rd of July.

The world cup race in Segovia, Spain

The world cup race in Segovia, Spain

On the 11th and 13th of June, I had the world cup race in Segovia-Spain. This is the first time that the UCI organizes a worldcup race for handcycle.

I landed Wednesday the 9th in Madrid and waited almost 2 hours but unfortunately, my bike was no where to be seen.

I left Madrid on a 100km journey to Segovia – feeling sad and so worried about the bike.

On Thursday 10th, I was informed that my bike was lost! Then I received the news that the races weren’t going to be on Friday and Sunday but Saturday and Sunday.

That was fine by me as I was having hopes my bike might be found in time. I was so sad all day as I didn’t get the chance to visit the track…
However, luckily I received a call from KLM on Friday to confirm that they found the bike and I’d have it delivered in the afternoon.

To top it off, the bike arrived and… voilà: the back wheel, the cables and the chain ring were totally damaged – I spent the rest of the day repairing it! [ Read more... ]

Schenkon race in Switzerland

May 15, 2010

Saturday the 15th of May I had a time trial race in Schenkon, Switzerland. After arriving on Friday, the weather wasn’t looking good at all so I knew that Saturday would be rainy day.

Our race started at 16:30. For the time trial, each person starts alone with a 30 second gap in between so I had to race all the way alone. My starting time was at 17:35. After having a good warming up, I had to wait under the heavy cold rain for more than 20 minutes. I wasn’t feeling well as I was freezing waiting for my start time. [ Read more... ]

Gutenberg Mainz half marathon 2010 – Germany

May 9, 2010

Last Sunday i was in Mainz for the half marathon. When I arrived on Saturday afternoon the weather was still looking good. But on Sunday morning it was pouring down and very cold.

After warming up in the parking area, I took my position at the start. The race started and I joined a small group of cyclists who split from the main group. The track was very wet which made the race harder, particularly on the turns as it was dangerously slippery.

Eventually I waited for the right moment and made my final sprint and won the race. I was happy with my results and now I’m looking forward to my next race this coming Saturday in Schenkon – Switzerland.

Czech Republic – Louny & Dusseldorf Marathon – Germany

May 2, 2010

Following the last Hamburg marathon, I stayed a couple of days in Hamburg to train with my teammates.

On Thursday the 29th of April, we set off to the Czech Republic and got stuck in traffic till we arrived at 10:30 pm. The trip made me feel very uncomfortable and my body was aching throughout the night with high fever. The next morning,my teammates got me some tablets to bring my temperature down. I didn’t eat anything that day as I slept more than 20 hrs and I was starting to wonder whether I’d be able to participate in the 15 km race the next day.

Saturday the 1st of May, I got up at 6:00 am feeling much better and no fever! I got myself ready and headed to the counter to pick my chip and start number… and on the way, my front tire exploded. I spent some time replacing the tire and I went straight to the start place. [ Read more... ]
