Czech Republic – Louny & Dusseldorf Marathon – Germany
Following the last Hamburg marathon, I stayed a couple of days in Hamburg to train with my teammates.
On Thursday the 29th of April, we set off to the Czech Republic and got stuck in traffic till we arrived at 10:30 pm. The trip made me feel very uncomfortable and my body was aching throughout the night with high fever. The next morning,my teammates got me some tablets to bring my temperature down. I didn’t eat anything that day as I slept more than 20 hrs and I was starting to wonder whether I’d be able to participate in the 15 km race the next day.
Saturday the 1st of May, I got up at 6:00 am feeling much better and no fever! I got myself ready and headed to the counter to pick my chip and start number… and on the way, my front tire exploded. I spent some time replacing the tire and I went straight to the start place.
We started at a very high tempo, some guys found it difficult though; so my teammate and I took the lead and we left the group! We wanted to break the course record, which was 22m:45sec. The race was too fast and we were pushing so hard all the way. When we arrived to the park of Louny, I was better in the turns; therefore, in the end sprint I won the race. This was my 3rd win there with 2 course records, and my new time was 20m:28sec more than 44,3 km/hr average speed.
After the podium ceremony I drove back with my teammate to Düsseldorf for the marathon on Sunday. On Sunday morning the weather was not looking so good as it rained during the night and they were expecting rain during the day as well.
I prepared my bike, warmed up and took my strat position. I then set off in the the lead, and after few kilometers I was at the third row and felt that my front wheel is not rolling as it should. I realized that I had flat tire. I came back to my car and I drove back home…
No- quite sensible. I played Tiki Resort for quite a bit and liked it- up to a point. I realized around the time SC came out that I wanted something more attractive to play. It’s one of the reasons I always like Tiki Farm more than Tiki Resort, and I played that one until I got to nearly the top level. I found it much more interesting to visit my little farm once a day. However, I’d rather spend occasional money on really nice items that feed something inside me (that’s NOT what is about for everybody, nor does it have to be) that wants to build, than to play something that is totally cartoony. I stopped playing TF when lots of items one would never find on a South Pacific island started getting added to the game; I stopped playing TR when I got tired of feeding the volcano. But I don’t think there’s anything wrong with either game. For me, however, they lacked something. Eventually, this game will have fulfilled my needs and I’ll move on to something else, or I’ll leave because it’s no longer as interesting as something else. A monkey can paint, too- that doesn’t mean all paintings are shallow. It means that paintings by monkeys might be shallow. A cat, dog and fish can be taught how to press buttons, but it has a different meaning when a human does it with intention, and uses that as a basis to complete an action. I don’t think you could teach a monkey to put buildings in a configuration that would look like small town America, or an old European city. Whereas with Tiki Resort, you can only build a resort and you MUST clean it, and you MUST build pretty much all the items to keep your tourists happy. The amount of usable land is fixed from the start and cannot be expanded or reconfigured in any way. For many people this is perfect. But whether something is free or not is not the only consideration in things, or we would all be carrying rucksacks, instead of having everything from messenger bags to Louis Vuitton.
The tire issues which make Rossi’s race pace so difficult to discern are occupying the entire paddock. The Yamahas, especially, can only really use the softer of the two options Bridgestone have brought, as has been the case for much of the season.
